The parish board

Every parish, every band, every cut-off

The price is the parcel class against the higher of the two parish bands. The date is the two parishes' run days. Nothing on this page is a starting price and nothing here is revised on an invoice.

Band is the higher of the two parishes. Nothing else changes the price: not the fuel price, not how far up the road the address is, not whether we have to come back a second time.

Pick a class and the price column re-prices. These are the rates to and from the depot; between two out-of-town parishes the band is the higher of the two, which the quote above works out for you.

Kingston, Saint Andrew and Saint Catherine are shaded: they are on the metro run four times a day, which is why they are the only same-day parishes.

How the bands were set

Four bands, drawn from the actual runs

Not from a map or a radius. A band is what it costs us to put a van on that road as often as we do.

Band 1 & 2 — the metro and the near parishes

Kingston and Saint Andrew are band 1: four runs a day, six days a week, and the depot is inside the zone. Saint Catherine is band 2 because the causeway and Spanish Town take a van out of the metro rotation for two hours, and Clarendon, Saint Mary and Saint Thomas are band 2 because they are one leg out and back inside a working day.

Band 3 & 4 — the long runs

Band 3 parishes are on daily long runs: Manchester, Saint Ann, Trelawny, Saint James, and Saint Elizabeth three days a week. Band 4 is Westmoreland, Hanover and Portland, where a van is out for the whole day and back after dark, so the run only pays twice or three times a week.

The six charges that are not on the board, because they are not charged

If a BizExpress invoice ever carries a line that is not a board rate, it is our mistake and we credit it. The rest of the questions
